Dominica aka Paradise

This is New Years Day, at sunrise - 6:00 ish. Sam and I look our best after being up for two nights!

We are arriving in Dominica....this was where the fun really started.....

Our first day was a little subdued while we caught up with our sleep. Prior to this we were greeted by Pancho who guided us on to a mooring buoy
(anchoring is not good here). Being New Year's Day, the town was predominantly shut but the locals were out in force, very friendly people who almost match the Bermudians for hospitality.

The next day we had a tour with an elderly tour guide, pictured right. Fortunately he brought his Dad, the same Pancho who helped us with our mooring buoy.

This is where the fun really started, he took us straight up in to the rain forest where we experienced an outdoor natuaral hot pool situated almost in the canopy together with coconut punch.....mmmmmm

We were then whisked off to a bar where we ordered lunch, Creole style and drank another rum punch....mmmmmmm

Then we were taken to a gorge similar to the one in Majorca except the water is flowing and boy flowing it was...!...we swam through the water shaped gorge until it opened up into this area that resembled a cathedral dome, it was that high with a massive waterfall.....awesome.

Next we went back to lunch and another rum punch......mmmmmm

You can see there was a stunning backdrop, the only thing missing....?.....silver back gorillas, yes it was that amazing.....Pancho shares this photograph with us.

We had a fabulous creole lunch with a couple more rum punches......mmmmmm

Trafalgar Falls was our next destination and you can see the falls below. One of the tributaries has a mountain stream you can bathe in and that's where we are in the pool picture....just imagine a cool fresh mountain stream, bitingly cold.......but it isn't, it's lovely and warm....where better to sleep off the effects of several rum punches...!!!!

We like it here so much we intend staying for about a week, then off to St Lucia.

Lovely that you like it here in Dominica! Be sure to go to Soufriere if you're into scuba, you can do the Champagne. Ask any guide. Also.. after that long day down south.. catch the sunset up at Gallion. Hmmmmm... It's really something. (Bring your camera!!)
